Hi Patrick,
I forwarded your enquiry to our conservation department and they were kind enough to send the below:

Hi Tim,
It depends entirely on what the purpose of the peel/mould is, but these are the two main silicones used within the lab:
For highly detailed impressions we use Elastosil M 4512. This come in a 20kg barrel and takes 24 hours minimum to set. We purchase this from Amber Composites.

For a quick set (5 mins) and small areas we use Coltene President dental silicone purchased from West One Dental. These come in two-part canisters (requires dispenser) or two tubes at 50ml each.

Hope that helps,

Subject: Sources of silicone rubber
I have been asked by a student here if I know of any suppliers of silicone rubber for fossil casting. I don't.
Can anyone suggest suppliers who can supply lowish volumes?
Many thanks,
Patrick
