VISUALISATION IN GENETIC AND EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION (VizGEC 2014)
to be held as part of the
2014 Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2014)
July 12-16, Vancouver, Canada
Organized by ACM SIGEVO

Submission Deadline for this workshop: March 28th, 2014
AIM AND SCOPE
The 5th annual workshop on Visualisation in Genetic and Evolutionary
Computation (VizGEC), to be held at GECCO 2014 in Vancouver, will
explore, evaluate and promote current visualisation developments in the
area of
genetic and evolutionary computation (GEC). Visualisation is a crucial
tool in
this area, providing vital insight and understanding into algorithm
operation
and problem landscapes as well as enabling the use of GEC methods on
data mining
tasks. Particular topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
* visualisation of the evolution of a synthetic genetic population
* visualisation of algorithm operation
* visualisation of problem landscapes
* visualisation of multi-objective trade-off surfaces
* the use of genetic and evolutionary techniques for visualising data
* novel technologies for visualisation within genetic and evolutionary
computation
* facilitating human steer of algorithms
* non-visual techniques for presenting results (e.g. audio and
audio-visual)
We invite short papers of up to 8 pages presenting novel developments in
one or more of these areas, or other areas relevant to visualisation in an
evolutionary context. Submissions in which visualisation techniques have
been used or developed as a means to exploring a larger problem are
welcome. We also invite submissions in the area of interactive or
dynamic visualisations which might form the basis of demonstrations in the
workshop.
IMPORTANT DATES
* Paper submission deadline: 28 March 2014
* Notification of acceptance: 15 April 2014
* Final papers due: 25 April 2014
* GECCO Conference: 12-16 July 2014
SUBMISSION
Accepted submissions will be presented orally at the workshop
and distributed in the workshop proceedings to all GECCO attendees.
Authors should follow the format of the GECCO manuscript style; refer
to http://www.sigevo.org/gecco-2014/ for further details. Manuscripts
should not exceed 8 pages. Papers should be submitted by 28 March 2014 in
PostScript or PDF format to [log in to unmask] Acceptance to the
workshop will be based on peer review of submitted papers.
