Subject: Being Human: A festival of the humanities funding call - Last chance to apply

Being Human: A festival of the humanities 15-23 November 2014
Funding opportunity. Last chance to apply – deadline Friday 14 March
Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London,<http://www.sas.ac.uk/> and supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Council<http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/Pages/Home.aspx> and the British Academy<http://www.britac.ac.uk/>, Being Human is the first nationwide festival of humanities research in the UK. From 15-23 November 2014, Being Human will draw together a programme of events and activities hosted by HE institutions and their cultural and community partners, celebrating the vitality, value, and social relevance of the humanities in 2014.
In this inaugural year, we are extending an open call for applications for small grants of £2-3,000 for institutions to participate in the festival. These grants are intended to fund creative programming which engages the public with high quality research in the humanities. Examples of fundable activities include, but are not limited to:
1. Talks and Debates
2. Exhibitions and installations
3. Performances
4. Film screenings
5. Virtual/digital activities
6. Hands on activities
7. Hackathons

Participation in the festival will offer an opportunity for engaging the public with leading humanities research. It will offer possibilities for collaborations to be instigated between HE institutions, cultural and community partners, and an opportunity to promote existing collaborations. It will also offer an opportunity to develop public engagement skills and awareness among academics and students.

The deadline for applications is 5pm Friday 14th March, 2014. Further details on the festival, the application process, assessment criteria and eligibility are available via Being Human<http://www.sas.ac.uk/support-research/being-human-festival>.

General enquiries about festival programming should be directed to Dr Michael Eades, School of Advanced Study: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Enquiries about the application process should be directed to Rosemary Lambeth, School of Advanced Study: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
