Subject: All the Libraries in London - Launch Thurs 20 March
Dear friends and colleagues,
Please join Ruth Beale and I for the launch of a unique directory of all the publicly accessible libraries in London.
We will be collecting mementoes and creative interventions relating to London's libraries - come along to the launch to the project and find out how you can contribute.
This project is a continuation of Ruth's 'All the Libraries in London', a large text work displaying the names of London's publicly accessible libraries, from local authority services to university institutions, to specialist and private membership libraries.
'All the Libraries in London is at once memorial, index, and reading list. A vast and virtually incomprehensible body of books, it is also complicated by the intrinsic blurring of public and private, and the fact that Beale's aspiration for comprehensiveness is inherently constrained by publicly available information and library closures.'
I hope to see you there,
Best,
Simon
