As you know, the International Council on Archives adopted a Universal Declaration on Archives as "a basis for advocacy and and promotion to support archives and the profession", in 2010. One year later, UNESCO endorsed it because its tenets tied in with paragraph 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and with UNESCO's own constitution which stresses the desire of member states to help to "maintain, increase and diffuse knowledge".
The Irish region follow Wales in giving their own endorsement to this document: we are pleased to announce that the Declaration is now available "as Gaeilge":
