The National Conservation Service is pleased to have launched its new
website at www.ncs.org.uk
The new site includes information about our unique services including
the recently announced Free Environmental Monitoring Scheme, the
Collaborative Storage Scheme, low cost high quality digitisation of
vulnerable items, two new, low cost membership categories and recent
project news items and blogs being added to over the coming weeks.
We now offer Supporting Membership at £38 per year, which offers free
telephone and email advice on conservation-related matters, access to
periodic news information, eligibility to join our storage and other
schemes and discounts on a range services including conservation,
digitisation and monitoring.
A new Introductory Membership at £250 p.a. provides members with site
visits by an Accredited Conservator to help in planning the care of your
collections and the full range of other benefits available to all
members. We continue to offer our standard Full Membership bands and
levels, tailored to your needs, providing on-site support in your
institution and bespoke assistance for the preservation of your
collection, including building and collection surveys, policy and
strategy development, staff training, pest and environmental monitoring,
help with preparing for archives accreditation and project funding bids
etc.
With the demise of the British Library's Preservation Advisory Centre we
aim to be your one-stop shop for advice and assistance, but with the new
approach of helping you on-site in your own institution with bespoke
support as well as with generic and online assistance. Our
not-for-profit Membership service offers a more sustainable economic
model than reliance solely on publicly funded resources, underpinned as
it is by our increasingly robust commercial services and growing
sponsorship assistance from large industry suppliers. Our success has
allowed us to keep our membership fee levels the same since our launch
in 2010 and profits from our standard business help us to continue to
develop and deliver new and imaginative low cost high quality support
services. Our team of Directors, Staff and Accredited Associates is
growing all the time and our membership and activities cross the UK.
We will be announcing a range of initiatives over the coming months,
including an online members' area later in 2014. If you would like your
institution to benefit from our unique range of affordable and
innovative conservation support, join us by visiting www.ncs.org.uk
