The Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS)
at the University of Bayreuth in Germany offers three fully funded PhD
scholarships beginning 10/2014 in the following research areas:
- Culture and Technology in Africa
- Media in Africa
- Development Economics in Africa
The successful candidate in the area 'Culture and Technology in Africa'
will be supervised by me - please feel free to get in touch with
inquiries via [log in to unmask] I particularly welcome applications
on questions of (renewable) energy and energopolitics in Africa. If you
are interested in pursuing a PhD in this area, but do not have a
concrete research proposal yet, please also get in touch with me as
there may be an opportunity to link your PhD topic to a developing
research project.
Applicants must have an excellent Master's Degree. Applications may be
sent in German, English or French.
The working language of BIGSAS is English.

Applications from the African continent will be pre-selected by the six
Partner Universities after the initial formal screening at the
University of Bayreuth.
