Apologies for cross-posting
Dear all
The Archives Sector Development team at The National Archives are currently working with Activist group to produce guidance on spin-outs (alternative ways of running local authority archive services). In order to inform this work we are asking for help from local authority archive services in completing this short survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Activist4TNA. The deadline for the completing the survey is Friday 4 April 2014.
You don't need any particular knowledge or experience of the term spin–out but when answering it is worth noting that we are looking at the alternative ways of running local authority archive services. By spin-out we mean the 'conversion' of an in-house service into a social enterprise, mutual, charitable trust, local authority trading company or a transfer to community management. Spin-outs do not include shared services or outsourcing to an existing private or third sector provider.
Don't worry if you're not confident with the language of 'spin-outs' or 'commissioning' - that's something we need to know and there is the opportunity for you to tell us that towards the end of the survey.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes. All responses will be treated as confidential and we will only be in touch if you have indicated that you are willing to help share your experiences for the purpose of the guidance. We are planning to share the findings as part of the completed guidance but in the meantime do contact me if you need more information.
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards,
Mairead
