Oxford University Press, New York, is preparing a Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography, under Editors in Chief Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and
Franklin W. Knight. There will be 2,000 entries.
The scholars on the board and as subject editors include one Australian (who spent 30 years in Jamaica) and one Swiss. There are none based in Britain, Spain or France although contributors may be from or based in those lands.
They agree that the Garvey historian Tony Martin might qualify for an entry but they do not know anyone who can contribute a piece.
