The Museum of the Great Outdoors - CFP closing date Feb 21st
Please see attached a call for posters.
The Museum of the Great
Outdoors is a research-led heritage project that celebrates and
interrogates the evolving relationship between Sheffield, Sheffield
City Council, and the Peak District and its diverse communities of
users, based on a cross-faculty collaboration at the University of
Sheffield. (Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities have provided the
initial funding).
It is hoped that the project will encompass a raft of research
proposals, each with a public-facing as well as academic output, that
will be united under a major funding bid. This pilot exhibition is
designed to scope out internal and external interest in the project
and identify its main contributors in a public arena.
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (4-6 April 2014), a hugely
successful event in its 10th year, attracts a large number of outdoor
sports enthusiasts to Sheffield as well as bringing together many and
varied local communities of climbers, runners, bikers and others. This
event will provide an opportunity to run a consultation with a
targeted audience on the appropriate nature of a Sheffield Museum of
the Great Outdoors. We are inviting academics, postgraduates and
student societies and others to create a poster, or alternative form
of exhibit for ShAFF, incorporating elements of both academic/student
research and public-facing exhibit.
Please contact Oli Johnson <[log in to unmask]> if any more
info is required.
