Hi Jo
Looking forward to the event.
I am well into my last twelve months now and have found it really tricky balancing family, work and writing up. I doubt this is exactly similar for everyone, but some advice on writing up, specifically time management and the viva would be a good topic for me. It's a case of making up rules as I go along at the moment. Though I suspect that is a familiar theme for those who are some distance from their home institution.
Hope your own work is going well.
See you in the summer.
Mark

Subject: 'Aspiring Academics' Postgraduate and Early Career Scholar Event - Diary Date and Your Input Needed
Dear all,
I hope that you are all well. Each year Socrel runs an event for Postgraduates, which since last year has also been opened up to Early Career Scholars. The 'Aspiring Academics' event is focused on researcher development and is also a great time to meet other researchers at a similar stage. If you are attending the main conference it is also good to meet PGs/ECS in a smaller group before everyone else arrives so we know to look out for one another at the main conference. The event runs from 1st July - 2nd July immediately prior to the main Socrel annual conference 'Religion and Crisis' which runs from 2nd July to 4th July at the University of Sussex. More details will be available on the Socrel website in due course but we are in the process of planning the event so I would really love your input to ensure that it is as valuable a time for you as possible.
So, if you could let me know if there are any topics that you would like to see on the programme for this year then if you could let me know by email that would be great. If you came to the event last year, if you could let me know if there was anything you particularly valued, or anything you would change too then that would be great.
Please don't feel you have to make a lengthy response (just a quick one line is great) but any feedback is really useful to me as I want to make sure the event is as productive as it can be.
Many thanks,
Jo.
