Dear list members,
I would be very grateful if you could share this vacancy with anyone that
you feel may be interested.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate in Design to work on an 18
month AHRC funded project titled ³The Value of Design: A Study of The Role
of Design in Innovation².
The project aims to identify the specific conditions under which design is
likely to make a substantial contribution to certain forms of innovation.
The Technology Strategy Board (TSB) is currently investing in a programme
to promote the use of design expertise and design approaches across its
programmes, through a Design Special Interest Group (SIG) being run by the
Creative Industries Knowledge Transfer Network (CIKTN). This research
project will operate alongside this programme, using its activities as
data, to undertake a prospective and retrospective pilot study of designıs
contribution to innovation; using both qualitative and quantitative
metrics.
Led by Professor Rachel Cooper and Dr Emma Murphy at Lancaster University,
this is a collaborative project between Lancaster University and Professor
Bruce Tether at Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.
Although based at Lancaster, you will be conducting research on behalf of
this academic team and working with our partners TSB/CIKTN Design Special
Interest Group.
You will possess a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in a field
relevant to design/innovation or design management research and be
comfortable undertaking qualitative and quantitative research methods. We
are looking for an energetic, dynamic, self-directed and committed
individual with a genuine interest in the role, value and impact of design
in business and innovation.
ImaginationLancaster is an internationally recognised design and
