Digital Analogy is an exhibition that
explores the computer code and artistic practices that were a fundamental
influence on the development of the creative and interactive
processes that are a vital component of everyday interaction in today's
society. The contemporary artists who are taking part in this exhibition
are responsible for pioneering processes and innovations that we use regularly
to communicate research, ideas and ideology. At the time that this group of
innovators created these electronic artworks, what we recognise as
"digital art" did not exist. Approximately four decades ago we had
the ideas and philosophical frameworks to develop the complex platforms that we
have integrated within diverse social networks, but it was thanks to the
contributions of these artists in the field of art, rather than technologists
as such, that these concepts became the constituent bases of what nowadays is
understood as new media. This exhibition explores diverse discourses such
as artistic, social and computer science to understand the evolution of this
New Media Art.
