Hello there!
I working on a SE capacity expansion on KFKI ALICE Tier-2 site and I
would like to empty out some controllers, with moving the data on them
to another (inside of a machine from disk1 to disk2, and between
different machines as well). Following Latchezar's advice I've tried to
move the data with simple tools like rsync. The command was exactly:
rsync -Wav /data/disk2/* /data/disk1/
under /data/disk1 was the directories: xrdnamespace and xrddata
under /data/disk2 was: xrddata and IOtest
I hoped that rsync would merge the folders, what has been happened
correctly, however in the folder xrddata as you may know there are files
which are virtually about several EB large, and however there were
enough empty space on disk1 the copy stopped after it felt that the
destination drive is full. The result:
[root@grid128 ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
...
/dev/sdc 37T 27T 11T 73% /data/disk1
/dev/sdd 19T 16T 2.8T 85% /data/disk2
where on disk1 now it should be 32TB total amount of data cause it was
the same like disk2 on the beginning. At least I assume...
Have anybody done something similar? What resolved the problem?
Thank you in advance.
