Dear Friends & Colleagues,
Inspired by the Refugee Law Project production "In the service of the Lord's Army" (visit http://refugeelawproject.org/nmpdc.html) that came out in 18 issues over the course of 2012 and 2013, journalist Will Storr came to Uganda to write an article about the intriguing life-story of Norman Okello. Assisted by the staff of the Refugee Law Project's National Memory and Peace Documentation Centre in Kitgum, he interviewed Norman and took photographs of him and his family. The Telegraph article "Kony's child soldiers: When you kill for the first time, you change" (visit http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/uganda/10621792/Konys-child-soldiers-When-you-kill-for-the-first-time-you-change.html), is based both on these interviews and on the content of the book.
Norman's story above is just one of the many personal testimonies and narrative of conflict experiences that the Refugee Law Project, under its National Memory and Peace Documentation Centre is documenting and archiving.
