I'd agree.
The politics and mechanics of any 'cycling' related studies in the academy mean that senior scholars may not be Senior in academic rank. Anyway, those few who do gain some kind of seniority might not be doing the most interesting research. I speak from some experience. I was and still to some extent am in a field which was originally extremely marginal (Computer Supported Cooperative Work) whose key researchers were often in junior positions, but when it became more successful, those researchers became much more, wait for it, *senior*. Nothing of course, to do with the industry money which poured in...
Come on, how many profs do you know who piggyback on young researchers' efforts? I'd say just get a good list of *interesting* cycling research, and you'll be on much better lines...
