AVI 2014 Workshop on Fostering Smart Energy Applications through
Advanced Visual Interfaces (FSEA 2014)
http://hcm-lab.de/projects/AVI2014/
About the Workshop
-----------------------------
The focus of this workshop is on advanced interaction, interface, and
visualization techniques for energy-related applications, tools, and
services.
Workshop Structure
----------------------------
This will be a full-day workshop, which will include short presentations
by the participants to discuss the key points of their workshop position
papers, as well as a session for hands-on design of an energy-related
mobile app, with a 200 Euro prize for the best design. Ample time will
be allocated to group discussions, brainstorming, sharing of ideas, and
deciding on future directions.
One of the aims of the workshop is to organize a special issue of a
journal or an edited book on visual interfaces for energy efficiency.
Two best papers will be selected from the accepted position papers and
considered for inclusion in the AVI 2014 conference proceedings as short
papers.
Call for Participation
----------------------------
We invite researchers and practitioners from a diverse range of
background, including interaction design, human-computer interaction,
visualization, computer games, and media technology, as well as domain
experts concerned with the development of energy-related applications.
Interested participants should submit a position paper reporting their
contributions to the field of the workshop and highlight their specific
interests in the workshop topics. These topics include, but are not
limited to, visual interfaces for:
- accessing energy generation and consumption data
- revealing energy-use patterns and behavior
- relating energy consumption to other information
- energy use analysis
- energy monitoring and management
- energy simulation games
- sharing and comparing energy-use data with others
as well as user evaluation of such visual interfaces.
Position papers should be no more than 4 pages long, and prepared
according to the ACM proceedings format (templates available at:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates).
Submissions should be made via Easychair
(https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fsea2014).
The workshop program committee will review the submitted position
papers, and select 10-15 papers for presentation at the workshop based
on their quality and relevance to the workshop topics.
The workshop chairs and AVI short paper chairs will select two best
papers and check them to ensure that their quality is consistent with
the other accepted AVI short papers.
Depending on space availability, other interested attendees of the AVI
conference without a position paper are also welcome to join this workshop.
