1.1 ALT launches a new three-year strategy
ALT has launched the new strategy for 2014-2017. The strategy sets out our shared vision for developing the Association as an influential, innovative and independent membership organisation, clearly defining our aims for the next three years.

1.2 New ALT Wales Special Interest Group
The ALT Wales Group is a new Special Interest Group (SIG) which is currently being established. Similar to the ALT Scotland Group, which was established in 2012 and which has since been very active, the ALT Wales Group is a national SIG for practitioners and researchers in learning technology based in Wales.

3.1 ULCC partners with plagiarism prevention company, Ephorus.
The University of London Computer Centre (ULCC), the leading IT service provider to the UK education sector, and Ephorus, the Dutch-based provider of plagiarism prevention, announced a new strategic partnership last month. The partnership will enable customers of ULCC's Hosted Moodle Service to seamlessly access the full range of Ephorus plagiarism prevention services, directly from within their VLE. Integrated in Moodle, Ephorus checks every essay and dissertation automatically, comparing student submissions with billions of sources on the Internet and papers, previously submitted at your institution.

3.2 New Jisc guides on technology-enhanced assessment and feedback.
Four new guides on technology-enhanced approaches to assessment and feedback are now available from Jisc. The guides are built on the experiences, approaches and lessons learned from our recent work with over 30 institutions in UK further and higher education exploring a range of new approaches to assessment and feedback.

4.1 Registration open for the DEANZ 2014 Conference, New Zealand, 30 April – 2 May 2014.
DEANZ14 is the premier conference in Aotearoa New Zealand for leaders and practitioners involved in open, flexible and distance learning. The conference will be relevant to tertiary and secondary educators, including librarians, and those company trainers seeking professional and organisational development that DEANZ supports. Non-refereed papers, digital posters, workshops, round tables, exhibitions and refereed papers are all invited for the event.

4.2 DIT Accredited Online Module Technology Enhanced Learning Teaching & Assessment, 4 March – 20 May 2014.
Registration is now open for this online CPD module (5 ECTS). A unique approach will be taken to this module in that participants will be required to set their own personal learning objectives at the outset, thereby enabling them to reflect on the weekly topics from their own professional perspectives.

4.3 Changing the Learning Landscape - Mobile learning and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): Gaining better use from familiar technologies and those already owned by students, University of Southampton, 7 March 2014.
‘Bring your own device’, or BYOD for short, is a hot topic in HE. While institutions have invested time and space for large numbers of computer labs and technological equipment, students are increasingly bringing their own to class. Institutions vary in the response they make to this. What is increasingly clear is that mobile learning is on the rise and that it is improbable that in the future institutions will be providing technology for classroom learning.

4.4 International Learning Design Challenge - MOOC, 10 - 14 February 2014.
Our aim is to engage the teaching community from across the globe to join in designing, sharing, and discussing how to create great learning designs for transforming education. The challenge will bring teachers together to innovate and share their ideas, to create one 100 designs that use technology effectively.

4.5 Virtual worlds in Higher Education: Reviewing current and future practice, Manchester, 14 March 2014.

4.6 Online course: Successful Supervising, Oxford Brookes University, 5 March - 4 April 2014.
Successful Supervision’ aims to enhance your repertoire of skills for supporting students who are working on extended research projects, such as theses and dissertations. The main topics covered are: monitoring students’ progress, cross-cultural awareness, research ethics, academic writing, and the supervisory relationship.

4.7 MOOC: Teaching Online Courses 10 March - 4 May 2014 (with a two week break for Easter)
FSLT, Teaching Online relies on sharing knowledge with your peers. Through the course you may also form and strengthen your professional support network of teachers in higher education. Teaching Online Courses is an open online course. You can take it for free, or for a fee you can register for assessment and formal credit. It has been validated by Oxford Brookes
University as a 10 M-level credit module within the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PCTHE).
