When we had the clinitek status analysers I found their QC impractical to use and looked into alternatives. There are a lot on the market: quantimetrix, alere, randox, to name a few. I opted for quantimetrix dropper solution as it is stable at room temp for a month. Our users do Qc once a week and we take fresh bottles out at the start of the month. The lockout wasn’t in place when we implemented this so we did a lot of audits and pushing to get them to comply. We now have a different analyser and have a lockout in place so we know we have 100% compliance but we still use the same QC and all our users are registered on WEQAS.

Hi Helen,
I have just started up our POCT section, and just like you our Seimens Clinitek Status analysers were put in place before I started. I have no end of problems getting staff to use ID's and the meters . I have just purchased the QC from Seimens, and trying to find a container that comfortably takes 12ml and allows a strip to mix is not easy. At the moment I currently make up the QC on a weekly basis. I have been doing the testing myself for the first couple of weeks. I have enrolled the devices with WEQAS and hope after proper education I can get the staff to do these.
Hope this makes sense.
Peter
