Hello Geraldine,
I had the same advice from the MIMAs helpdesk, but when I passed it onto out technical team, they confirmed that it is nothing to do with our (EZ) proxy, which do not have a compatibility view setting, and that they can do nothing to alter it.
My understanding is that the issue is caused by the default MS compatibility settings (which have been implemented for IE9 here). These display intranet sites in compatability view, and are meant to help with tools like Sharepoint (which is also used here).
Access to Web of Science/WoK is run through our EZProxy server, which has the effect of inserting .kent.ac.uk into the WoS/WoK URL, making it appear like an intranet site to IE9 - which then automatically displays it in compatibility view.
The solution I have been for IE given is:
Tools >> Compatibility view settings >> untick the box that says "Display intranet sites in Compatility View"
This does work, but someone needs to look at fixing this the WoS/WoK end, or our technical team will need to think about how to roll this out to all users (asking people to do it on an individual basis could be quite tiring). Also, I don't know yet if it will cause knock on effects elsewhere (i.e. with other intranet sites).
Best wishes,
Jason

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Web of Science / Web of Knowledge problems and IE
Hi all,
I know there has been some prior discussion on LIS-E-Resources regarding the new Web of Science interface.
We are having some difficulty only on Internet Explorer with some of our links to full text once a search has been conducted in Web of Science, we receive an error message to say we're using IE7, even though we're using IE9. We then receive an Invalid Request message on the Web of Knowledge interface. The problem remains even if the compatibility mode is disabled.
Thomson Reuters have advised that it is the proxy connection at our end appears to be causing the issue with Internet Explorer. However the problem occurs even when we do not use the proxy on campus so I do not believe it is a proxy issue.
There is no issue accessing the same resources in either Chrome or Firefox.
Many thanks,
Geraldine
