Hi Jane
I have discussed this with our Disability Support Service. We as an exams office do not make any claim for a reimbursement of any monies. We do not make any payments to Scribes or readers - this is paid for by the Disability Support Service.
Our Disability Support Service response is as follows:
Student Finance England would consider additional invigilator costs to be the responsibility of the institution. The DSA will only fund support which can be justified solely on disability related grounds i.e. a reader or scribe.
In other words, additional invigilators are not needed because of the student's specific disability; a blind or dyslexic student does not need an invigilator in order to sit an exam, but they may need a scribe or reader.
Hope that helps.

Subject: Disabled Student's Allowance
Dear All,
Faced with the ever increasing costs of making individual exam arrangments for students with a disability, I would be interested to know whether anyone has experience of reclaiming costs from a Student's Disabled Student's Allowance. If you have, what costs have you been able to reclaim and how did you go about it? Are you able to reclaim costs of additional one-to-one invigilation or is it limited to specialist support, such as scribes and readers? Is the process straightforward and is it worth the effort involved?
I am happy to collate responses and circulate to the group.
Many thanks
Jane
