In summary:
The 'Your Time to Remember' campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the exhibitions and events the partner museums are developing to commemorate the start of the First World War. The major part of these commemorations will be a multi venue exhibition called Soldiers' Journey which will explore the unique role Hampshire played in supporting the war effort abroad.
The campaign is based on postcards in our museum collections that were sent by First World War soldiers to loved ones back home.
The key audience for this campaign is people who don't normally visit our museums.
The campaign will invite people to write or draw a message to someone they love / are missing and share with others via a custom built website and / or Facebook.
The invitation to ask people to send in a message for inclusion online will be in the form of reply paid postcards distributed across Hampshire in a variety of locations such as pubs, cafes, railway, ferry and bus stations, retirement homes, doctors and hospital waiting rooms etc. Participants will write their message on the back of the postcard and return the card to a central point for scanning and uploading online.
We are also keen to involve people from outside of the local area so also wish to include the option for people to contribute their messages via an online system if possible. As we wish contributions to be hand written / hand drawn, it is envisaged this would be via users own mobile phone / tablet camera.
The key tasks we require help with are as follows:
1. Development of the idea 'Your Time to Remember' to ensure maximum engagement with a local and national audience that includes people who don't normally visit museums.
2. Graphic design for the online presence for the campaign
3. Development of an online presence to aggregate the contributions from the public, this might be a simple website or Facebook page or might be both, please make clear in your quote your approach with reasons why you favour the solution proposed
4. Development of a system that allows online contributions from the public
5. Support and, if necessary, web hosting for the online presence for 12 months
6. Development of a system of metrics to monitor the success of the campaign
7. Development of a plan of marketing activities to ensure maximum engagement (delivery of the marketing activities is not required)
This work is to support the Viral Marketing strand of the Stronger and Bolder Together Programme being undertaken by a partnership of three museum services run by Hampshire County Council, Southampton City Council and Winchester City Council.
