My thanks to Christian Algar of the British Library and Jane Pirie of the
University of Aberdeen for advising on the collation of their respective
libraries' copies of this title - a great help!

Subject: Robert Macnish, The Anatomy of drunkenness
If anyone with this particular edition (see below) can tell me whether their
copy has a portrait, or has a full count of preliminary pages, I shall be
most grateful. The copy to hand has no portrait, and paginates thus: [v],
viii-xi, [2], 14-266 p.
The anatomy of drunkenness. / By Robert Macnish ...
Fourth edition. Glasgow : W.R. M'Phun, MDCCCXXII. [1832]
From the records on COPAC I am unable to tell whether the portrait would
have been included in the preliminary pagination if I had it, and/or whether
there ought to be (say) a half-title to bring the preliminary leaf numbering
up to [vii]. There is a glue mark on the gutter of the flyleaf verso which
suggests that the portrait was once tipped-in there, but the flyleaf is not
cognate with the title page.
Many thanks
Jane
