italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear colleagues,
Three vacancies have arisen for contributors to the bibliographical
journal 'The Year’s Work in Modern Language Studies'. These lie in the
fields:
- Medieval Latin Literature
- Italian Literature: Humanism
- Italian Literature: Renaissance
Contributors will write an annual report of a pre-agreed length,
typically around ten pages, on the latest scholarship in the field.
These reports are conceived as a mixture of bibliography and critical
review. Contributors are asked to commit to write for at least three years.
YWMLS appears annually as an 800-page volume, and is published
electronically via JSTOR
(http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5699/yearworkmodlang.73.issue-2011). The
series has appeared regularly since 1930 and is widely held in libraries
around the world.
The main perk for contributors, apart from a publication in a
prestigious organ and the discipline of keeping up-to-date with the
field, is that it is possible to receive significant numbers of free
review copies of books.
Applications with CV are invited from established scholars in the field.
We have had good experiences with sections written by pairs of scholars
or small teams, and a joint proposal of this nature would be very
welcome. Usually a completed PhD is a requirement, but applications from
doctoral students may be considered if supported by their supervisors.
