Further to Sarah's comment, I began a list of HER and general historic environment Twitter users here - https://twitter.com/DrDanHicks/historic-environment-hers/members
If I've missed anyone, do let me know!
For our research projects, we find Twitter an invaluable tool when used hand-in-hand with project blogs, such as our current work on Pitt Rivers - http://excavatingpittrivers.blogspot.co.uk
Our colleagues on the EngLaid project have also recently joined Twitter - https://twitter.com/EngLaID_Oxford
All best,
Dan

I think many HERs have produced leaflets, given talks to their local archaeology societies or university department. Some have even been lucky enough to have a stall/display at a local heritage event.
Arguably Twitter is unusual! Not many HERs are using this as a method to actually promote their services. I know a few others of you who do this but I won't name you :)
I would also think the copy of the Peterborough dataset available in the Cathedral Library is a fairly unusual method of promotion - I think you're the only one to do that Sarah!
I think its worth people discussing non-traditional methods of promotion. Whilst probably not 'unusual' as such I did man a stall for the Heritage & Conservation Team in Northumberland at a local argicultural show. That I think is a non-traditional target audience perhaps!
all the best

Hi Sarah,
Not necessarily an unusual method, but we are using Twitter – follow us here: @WorCityHeritage
We do also use Facebook occasionally by linking into the existing Worcester City Council page, which means that we don’t have to maintain the page ourselves and can provide content on an as and when basis.
Best wishes,
Sheena

Subject: Friday question .........
Hello All J
May I ask a Friday question….What unusual ways have you promoted the HER?
We are currently in the process of looking at promoting the HER and so thought it would be a good idea to ask how other HER’s have approached it.
All feedback very welcome
Best wishes
Sarah
