We are currently trying to gather information about the Mosul area in Iraq and also any persecution of people from the Shabaki ethnic group for a friend of ours who was detained in Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre in the UK in mid-December.
He has not been given any removal directions yet and so we are trying to gather evidence for his solicitor in case anything happens. He has been accepted as being Shabaki, but he has been told that this is not dangerous in itself. We know the reality is otherwise.
We heard a few days ago that his name is among a list of names on the wall of a mosque in the region as names of people who should be targeted if seen. People are too scared to remove his name altogether and we have asked that they may try to get photographs of the wall and the mosque as extra evidence.
If anyone has any information or contacts that may be able to help, please get in touch. A good friend of his is also Iraqi and has been translating any Arabic documents we have received.
Many thanks,
Lucie
