Hey there

Happiest of new years to you all!

I wanted to share some good news from the London CP network news and an update about a new Comm Psych website resource.

So the good news in this order...

1) New interactive Comm Psych website - hoping to become a place people can go to be inspired, to learn and develop Comm Psych together in the UK.

2) London event - Unseen Tours - walking tour of London through the lens of homelessness. Details below. 30th Jan.

3) Mark Burton talk in London. Amazing!! Details below. 26th Feb.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Good news number one:

- The UK Community Psychology Ning website is now live and active and ready for anyone to join!! There's already some great stuff on there. Go to....

http://communitypsychologyuk.ning.com/

The Ning website is participatory, interactive and new website to make networking and building a Comm Psych movement easier.

The Ning means we'll all be able to communicate with each other individually, as a group or as subgroups etc.

PLEASE do join if you're interested - the Ning is just getting going - but the aim is for it to be a place where practitioners and communities from across the UK can network, found out about each other's projects, ideas and hopes in an encouraging and supportive way. Post, share and get involved!

The difference to this list is you can also contact individuals, create subgroups of interest or region, promote and see events in one place, post resources (like videos, photos, articles, website links etc). Thank you!

We all have to actively go to the website as well - rather than have things emailed into your inbox.

Please do email me if you have thoughts/comments about the Ning. It was developed by the BPS Comm Psych Section - instead of having a website linked from the BPS website. But is independent of the BPS.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Good news number two:

Members of the London Network are going on a walking tour with Unseen Tours on Thurs 30th Jan at 6.30pm.

Unseen Tours are a unique social enterprise that offers walking tours of London led by homeless/ formerly homeless guides where the lion's share of the income goes directly to the guides.

Have a look here:

http://sockmobevents.org.uk/

We will use it as an opportunity to focus on the issues around homelessness and what, as different practitioners and psychologists, we could/should/are/want to be doing!

I’ll send out final details next week – if you want to join you can just turn up.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Good news number three...so excited...!

Mark Burton, a Scholar-Activist and all round tremendously inspiring Community Psychologist of Manchester Met Uni fame and beyond is coming to meet, talk and chat to the London network on Weds Feb 26th at 6.30-8.30pm.

The topic will be along the lines of.. Community and Liberation Psychologies: Latin American Developments.

Venue TBC but do come along if you can, it will be great - all very welcome! More details will follow.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Finally...

Thank you to everyone who came along to the BPS Community Psychology Section AGM in December. It was a great success and there are presentations from the day (eg Glenn William's talk on CP research) available via the Ning if people are interested.

See you on the Ning!?

Best wishes
Sally (London  CP Network Co-ordinator)
