Although not particularly well known for their sporting prowess, the ancient Egyptians were nevertheless enthusiastic participants in a wide range of sports for over three thousand years. From wrestling and rowing to archery and chariot racing, Professor Fletcher will explain how sports were pursued by commoners and kings from the earliest times, with the male and female pharaohs of Cleopatra’s dynasty even achieving victories in the Olympic Games.
