Hello,
This is a request for information -please help if you can, or pass this email on to those within your networks who may be able to help!
As part of a larger study, we are just beginning a scoping literary review which we hope will offer a comparative analysis of representations of ageing in mid-late 20th and 21st century fiction that depict the lives of older men and women who migrated to post-war Britain from the Caribbean. Rooted in the characters and their stories, we are interested in exploring how notions of health and wellbeing, as well as notions of resilience, embodiment and agency are conceptualised and contextualised by contemporary British writers.
We do not intend to review all novels that include depictions of older Caribbean migrants. Rather, the aim is to review novels that have the following key markers:
(i) the central protagonist is an older person of Caribbean heritage
(ii) the story is told through the eyes of the protagonists
(iii) the story revolves around the lived experiences of protagonists as they navigate their day to day life as UK residents.
(iv) the story explores (to varying extents) notions and presentations of parent (the protagonist)-child relationships
We have a few novels already ( Waiting in the Twilight, Mr Loverman), but can you help? Do you know of novels that meet the above inclusion criteria? Let me know offline ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) I am happy to collate and post the final list.

Many thanks!
