It is with great pleasure that I attach the latest edition of Visual Sociology, the newsletter of the International Sociological Association's Visual Sociology Group.
This latest edition features a series of sociological articles looking at space, place and belonging, in addition to our regular Getting to Know You Column (featuring Professor Piotr Sztompka, former President of the ISA), information about our forthcoming conference at the World Congress of Sociology in Yokohama from 13-19 July 2014, and a pre-call for nominations for election for our new Executive Board. It also contains details of the Rachel Tanur Memorial Prize in Visual Sociology, 2014. We would strongly encourage students to submit entries for this competition so please circulate this edition to your classes and any social science student you know who has an interest in visual research.
If you feel inspired to submit an article, photograph, photo essay or teaching tips for the next edition the deadline is 1st of April 2014. We are already receiving submissions so please email me in advance if you wish to be guaranteed a place in the next edition. Anyone interested in visual research is welcome to submit a piece although priority is given to members of ISA Visual Sociology Group (WG03) and their students.
with best wishes
