Subject: Poem 2 days early - Richard Kessling & Lawrence Upton
It has been flame hot in far too many days.
I watch out from the porch while harsh sun sidles
towards dusk. The tree, stirred by false promises
of whirligig clouds, or expectation of fire,
spits seeds reporting on the roofing iron.
It will not rain to-day, tomorrow nor days after.
