Kirsten,
A 'global' calibration policy can only state that calibration will be
carried out as necessary and in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions. Also consider that many items of equipment will have some form
of check method to establish whether the equipment is still within
calibration and thus does not need to be recalibrated. There is an enormous
difference in calibration requirements for the many different items of
measurement equipment that can be encountered in occupational health.
What you could do to satisfy those requesting a system is to have a simple
policy in line with the first sentences in this posting and then attach a
listing showing the calibration requirements (period, who does, how it is
done, whether a calibration test in house is possible, etc.) for each item
of equipment you use.
