Subject: [MCG] Dept Sizes
Hello MCG'ers
I'm hoping to gather some quick numbers - the size of Digital Media (new
media, web, etc) departments at various institutions (vs the size of the
entire museum staff) in FTEs (full time employees). And of course,
understanding that divisions of responsibilities and tasks often vary
between institutions therefore not allowing direct 1:1 comparisons. Also
understanding that dept sizes relate directly to programming type, subject
matter, etc.
For example, I have 19 FTEs who work on exhibits (hard and digital),
digital media (in exhibits and for remote audiences - web, apps, games,
mobile, content management, etc.), design & production (all design services
for the museum, all a/v production for the museum - exhibits, marketing,
programming, etc), and collections (library, archives, 3D collections mgmt,
and art commissioning)
So, I have 19 FTE in the dept, 7 FTE who work in the digital media unit,
and a museum of 109 FTE (and growing as move to open next Fall).
Anyone willing to share?
Best,
Corey
