Hi
According to Forrester QR use is still on the increase (http://blogs.forrester.com/reineke_reitsma/13-05-10-the_data_digest_the_uptake_of_qr2d_bar_codes) as well as according to Pitney Bowes (http://www.pb.com/smb/qr-codes/marketing/statistics-trends-use/reports/2012-us-europe).
But what do market researchers know?
I thought this was quite amusing bearing in mind the context of your question: http://marketingland.com/the-death-of-the-qr-code-37902 - as it says QR readers are not bundled with phones, yet Bluetooth and NFC is increasingly - I think it is these that are going to drastically change how we interact with our physical environment. The only thing with QR codes is that the user has intent when interacting (rather than just accidental encountering).

Subject: [MCG] QR codes bad or good [Scanned]
Hi,
I remember when QR codes were hailed as the next big thing. Is that still the hive-mind's opinion?
I'm aware of security issues. Are QR codes future-proof so users can access them next year, or in 10 years...? Other issues?
A long time ago I shared a panel (and actually one of those 'Lost In Translation' weekends) at a museums' conference in Lillehammer with one of the inventors. However, at the recent UKMW no-one said anything about QR codes. Indeed if QR was mentioned people would pause to spit! I am about to consult with a project who plan to literally carve QR codes onto stone plaques, along with inscriptions which may prove to have more longevity?
Any comments about QR codes please?
Thanks Ally
