Dear all,
We updated our WNs to CVMFS 2.1.15 from CVMFS 2.0.22. Everything was
fine, however we had to update the QUOTA_LIMIT to 40GB because now the
different repositories are cached in the same directory (cache/share/).
Thus, it was required to run cvmfs_config reload in all the WNs as it is
indicated in the next link: http://cernvm.cern.ch/portal/cvmfs/examples
Then, the problems started. First of all, the reload takes really more
time than the old "/etc/init.d/cvmfs restart" process and, moreover, we
saw different "Crashed" messages in the logs. After that, different
repositories were impossible to mount in the WNs. Running cvmfs_config
probe, we observed that few repositories were not correctly mounted
(Failed!). In the next link, there are different approaches to this
problem:
http://cernvm.cern.ch/portal/filesystem/debugmount
However, we did not want to wipe all the cached CVMFS directories since
there were only one or two repositories failing per WNs, not all. We
found that, unmounting the problematic repositories (using "-l" option)
and rerunning cvmfs_config probe again, we solved the problem for the
major part of the WNs, however, for a few machines, the only solution
was to reboot them (maybe a complete clean of the cache directory would
worked).
Right now, all our WNs are running fine with the CVMFS version 2.1.15
and the desired quota. However, this long story was to ask you if there
is a better way to solve the problems with one or two repositories in
CVMFS that does not imply to clean all the cache or to reboot the
machine. With CVMFS 2.0 version, you could fix the problems of one
repository using a combination of commands (cvmfs_readconfig ;
repository_stop cvmfs_mkfqrn $repo ; service autofs restart ;
repository_start cvmfs_mkfqrn $repo). Is there a similar option for
CVMFS 2.1.5? Or is this impossible because now all the repositories are
cached in the same directory?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Carles
