AHRC PhD Studentships in Art History, Classical Studies, English, History, Music, Religious Studies and Philosophy
The Faculty of Arts is pleased to announce Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding through the Consortium for Humanities and the Arts, South-East England (CHASE). CHASE is matching AHRC funding of £17m and will be awarding more than 375 AHRC-studentships over a five-year period starting in 2014/15. Up to 75 studentships are available across the consortium for autumn 2014 entry.
Due to funding restrictions CHASE AHRC studentships are available to UK and EU residents at The Open University in the Faculty’s subject areas. Awards for UK residents include fees and maintenance while EU residents are eligible for fees only.
The Music Department has research expertise in the following areas:
• Historical and contemporary study of musical texts, contexts and performance, including editions of performance texts, performance practices; instruments and their use and documentary and archival research of the social, cultural and biographical contexts of music-making
• Social and cultural theory and analysis, including ethnomusicology, sociology; and the social history of music
• Interdisciplinary research in the humanities, including music and film, music in literature and music in religion
