The University of Exeter is a member of the South, West and Wales (SWW) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP), which will be awarding up to 50 doctoral studentships for the best postgraduate research projects across the full range of Arts & Humanities disciplines.
Modern Languages in Exeter is a strong department and has a supervisory capacity in the following AHRC-facing subject areas:

Modern Languages in Exeter has been awarded over £2 million in external research grants over the period of 2008-13, with awards made to every one of our five long-standing languages French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish (we added Chinese and Portuguese research expertise in 2013).
We welcome approaches from candidates with PhD projects in all areas of contemporary German culture and society, and will be pleased to provide support with the preparation of your application for a studentship.
