We are convening a session at the 2014 EGU General Assembly in Vienna
(April 27 - May 2) on "Granites - Archaean to present." We invite you to
consider submitting an abstract to the session. We are hoping for a
broad range of contributions that address the a wide range of processes
associated with granitoid petrogenesis and how these may have changed
through time.
The General Assembly website is here: http://www.egu2014.eu/
The Call for Abstracts is here:
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2014/sessionprogramme
The session is in the GMPV – Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology &
Volcanology Program Group and the abstract deadline is January 16, 2014.
Here is the session description:
GMPV20 Granites - Archaean to present
Convener: Jean-François Moyen
Co-Conveners: Tracy Rushmer , Michael Brown
Granitoids are the dominant component of the continental crust. This
session examines all aspects of granite petrology and geochemistry: the
formation and
extraction of melts; the processes that control the evolution from melt
to granite; the emplacement, cooling and textural development of
granites; the ore systems associated. Contributions from the fields of
experimental petrology, geochemistry, mineralogy, field studies, etc.
are welcome in this session. A particular focus of this session is the
long term evolution of granitic magmatism, from the past to the present.
We look forward to seeing you in Vienna at the mid-point between Hutton
conferences!
Regards,
J-F, Tracy and Mike
