Michael, as always you teach me something new. Are you familiar with Luc
Benazet's work? Does he write within an Objectivist tradition in
France--indeed is there an Objectivist tradition in France?--And what books
of Benezet's would you or anyone on this list recommend? Are his books
available in translation? I've been working through Gallimard's Anthologie
De La Poesie Francais du XX siecle, and have found a few writers who could
been seen as Objectivists--Andre Velter, for instance. When I say
Objectivist, of course I don't mean members of the original group, but poets
sharing the concerns of Objectivism and displaying the use of similar
linguistic devices in their poetry.
All of which brings up the interesting question of pan-cultural movements in
poetry and how they arise.
Jesse
