Very sad news to all of us indeed. I met Ahmed for the first time in 1994
during the first International Workshop for African Archaeobotany which
was organised by Krystyna Wasylikowa near Krakow. Since then we would see
each other either during the next AA conference or during the IWGP and the
conference on the Pre- and early Dynastic Egypt. Not often by regular. The
last time we talk it was in Wilhelmshaven. It would never cross my mind I
would then talk to him for the very last time. What a fine colleague he
was. Rest in peace Dear Ahmed.
My deep condolences to his wife Jane and his family.
