** Postgraduate Research Funding Opportunities at Royal Holloway, University of London **
Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) studentships are now available to eligible applicants for postgraduate research in Human Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. The closing date for receipt of applications under both schemes is 19th February 2014.

Fully-funded AHRC PhD studentships (stipend, fees and research training costs) are available to students working in the fields of cultural and historical geography, archaeology and development studies. These awards are offered through the newly-established TECHNE Doctoral Training Partnership led by Royal Holloway (http://www.techne-research.co.uk ) which includes six other universities in London and the South East (Royal College of Art, University of the Arts, Surrey, Roehampton, Kingston and Brighton). TECHNE offers a rich and diverse training programme for doctoral students with a particular focus on interdisciplinarity and creativity. The programme is enhanced by input and placement opportunities provided by TECHNE’s partner organisations in the cultural sector (including the Barbican, Natural History Museum, Museum of London, BFI and Science Museum).

Fully--funded ESRC PhD studentships (stipend, fees and research training costs) are also available to Royal Holloway applicants working across the range of social science human geography, through two pathways: Human Geography and Environment, Energy & Resilience. These awards are offered through the ESRC South East Doctoral Training Centre also involving Universities of Kent, Reading and Surrey.

Funding may also be available to MA students seeking to build expertise in a new subject area before proceeding to doctoral study, through the TECHNE consortium.
