Applications are invited for a researcher to work on the research project, which is funded by the UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Engineering & Physical Science Research Council, which analyses the resilience of the food supply chain to potential major port disruptions on the east coast.
The appointee will work with various stakeholders including DEFRA, Department for Transport, food and port industries and freight haulers and will collect the quantitative and qualitative data on food supply chains, especially how food is transported and distributed. The collected data will be incorporated to the research group's MARS model: an agent-based simulation model for port operations.
The post is funded for one year in the first instance and is available immediately. We will take account of individual circumstances regarding the starting date (e.g. the appointee needs some time to relocate or/and hand in a notice to the current employer).
Key Requirements
The successful applicant will have knowledge of food supply chains and a good first degree in a relevant subject. A postgraduate degree (e.g. a Master) in a relevant subject would be desirable. Experience of working in the food logistics industry would be an advantage.
