Risk and Society Study Group Event
Friday 28 February 2014,
BSA London Meeting Room, Imperial Wharf
CALL FOR PAPERS
Risk in Health and Social Care: Politics, Theory and
Practices
This study day will offer an opportunity for participants to focus on
themes
relating to risk in the broad field of health and social care practice,
including the
contribution of social theory to analysis and understanding of risk
practices and
their impact. We welcome abstracts that are broadly relevant to one or
more of
these themes. This includes theoretical papers that may be relevant in
their
application to the health and social care field, and also papers from
other fields
that contain useful insights, for example in terms of methodological
approaches
to researching risk. We welcome theoretical, methodological and empirical
papers from any discipline.
Guidance on abstract submission:
Please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words to [log in to unmask]
by Friday January 17th 2014. We will advise you if your submission has been
successful by the end of January.
The day will also offer opportunities for more general discussion about
the study
groupıs aims and objectives, and also ideas for future study day events. We
plan to organise another study day event towards the end of 2014 and would
like suggestions about possible themes.
Please note that we may also build on the event to develop a contribution
to the
new BSA book series. We will provide more details about this on the day.
