Tenured/Tenure-Track Position in Media Studies
The University of Texas at Austin Department of Radio-Television-Film seeks to fill a faculty position in media studies at the rank of assistant or associate professor, beginning Fall 2014. We are interested in applicants who bring a critical focus to the study of media industries, media history, global media, and/or digital media (gaming, social media, mobile media, design). Scholars whose work addresses issues of identity, representation (gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity), audiences and reception are especially encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in media studies or a related field is preferred, with a strong record in publishing and teaching, and with experience supervising advanced graduate and undergraduate students. Salary commensurate with experience. We will begin reviewing applications on November 25, and will continue until the position is filled. MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
