With the usual apologies for cross-posting, a final reminder of the 12th November booking deadline for ARLG East Midlands' forthcoming workshop 'Managing Behaviour in the Library' facilitated by David Gowling from Xceed Training. There are just a handful of places left, so if you are interested in attending please let us know asap!
Date & time: Thursday 28th November 2013, 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Venue: Jury’s Inn Hotel, Station Road, Nottingham, NG2 3BJ (close to the railway station).
Cost: £95 for CILIP members and £110 for non-members, inc VAT.
Booking deadline: Tuesday 12th November 2013.
Target audience: Those working in FE and HE libraries; staff from other library sectors are however welcome to attend.
Content: This workshop is for anyone seeking guidance and advice on dealing with challenging behaviour in academic libraries. Designed to increase confidence and enhance inter-personal skills, the day will incorporate a mixture of practice (don’t worry - no role play!) and theory, all delivered in a relaxed and entertaining way. Themes will include:
*Self awareness;
*How to anticipate typical student behaviours;
*Managing the different needs and expectations of students within the library;
*Verbal communication models for different situations;
*How to remain positive when dealing with difficult student behaviours;
*How to remain assertive.
