REMINDER: CILIP ARLG Eastern event: One afternoon, three libraries in Ipswich.
There are only a few places left for our afternoon of library tours in Ipswich, so book quickly!
Date: Friday 22 November 2013, from 1pm.
Programme: Why stop at one library when you can visit three? We'll meet at the Ipswich Institute <http://www.ipswichinstitute.org.uk/> on Tavern Street (www.goo.gl/ctDrWH) at 1pm for a tour of the Library and Reading Room, followed by a short walk over to Suffolk New College <http://www.suffolk.ac.uk/> , where we'll have a tour of The Learning Curve, and then finally we'll go across to University Campus Suffolk <http://www.ucs.ac.uk/home.aspx> for some refreshments and another library tour. We should finish no later than 4pm.
Booking: Booking is essential, and there are only a few places left. To book a place, please either use the booking form here <http://www.cilip.org.uk/academic-and-research-libraries-group/events/arlg-eastern-visit-three-ipswich-libraries> or email Charlotte Byrne at [log in to unmask]
Cost: It's free for ARLG members, and £5 for non-members.
More details: The Ipswich Institute provides lending library facilities and a programme of courses and talks to over 2000 members. Founded in 1824 as the Mechanics' Institution, it was committed to making knowledge available to the 'artisans' of Ipswich, and continues in this tradition today. Suffolk New College is a large FE college which offers vocational courses and A-levels, and the Learning Curve provides library services and student support to students at the College. UCS is a collaborative institution between the University of Essex and the University of East Anglia. It has five centres, across Suffolk, each with its own library.
