Hi Elaine
At University of Sussex :
1. We don't lend doctoral theses if they are not available for immediate download on EThOS - we ask them to apply through EThOS.
2. Yes, we have a pot of money put aside for digitisation in the annual budget.
3. Readers from other Universities can access the full text of electronic theses (available from 2009) in our institutional repository, either through a link on the EThOS record or directly from the repository.
4. Yes, we do pay the cost for our users requesting the digitisation of theses from other Universities where there is a charge for this on EThOS. However, requests have to be approved through the Research Support Librarian and we reserve the right not to pay, if for example, one of our users submitted multiple requests. So far, we have not had to refuse any requests as we only 2 or 3 requests a month max.

Subject: EThOS Policies
Dear all,
I'm just trying to find out if most institutions who are members of
EThos do the following:
*Do you still lend theses if they are not available for immediate
download on EThOS or do you tell the requesting institution to go
through EThOS?
*Do you have any funding to pay for theses to be digitized via EThOS?
*If theses are digitized and available from your repository can readers
from other institutions access the full text?
*If your students request a theses from another institution which isn't
available for immediate download from EThOS, do you pay for the cost of
digitization?
Regards,
Elaine Wilson
