Research Analytics Librarian

Library
Salary: Starting from £30,424, rising to £36,298
Closing Date: Thursday 12 December 2013
Interview Date: To be confirmed
Reference: CC2077

The University of Bath is a world class University in a World Heritage
city with a growing international reputation for high quality research
and teaching.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Library Research Services
team to lead the development of services using bibliometric tools to
analyse research publications and inform strategies to raise the profile
of research conducted by the University of Bath.

Reporting directly to the Head of Research Services, you will identify
methodologies and algorithms to inform citation approaches and use
bibliometric and analytical tools to map and benchmark the quality of
the University’s research. You will take the lead and be responsible
for identifying and managing bibliometrics modelling; advocating and
informing an understanding of research information metrics, and
developing, evaluating and delivering associated skills training for the
whole University’s academic research community.

Communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role where
you will be working with academic/research support colleagues across the
Library and Professional Services, the research community and a range of
external bodies.

You will be familiar with research information management systems and
current academic publishing alongside a strong understanding of both the
research environment within Higher Education and recent developments in
the sector relating to Open Access and Open Data. Training will be
provided on the use of bibliometric and citation databases and
methodologies.
