The gridftp node type is for standalone gridftp servers, i.e. ones which can be used without going through the SRM interface. Traditionally that hasn't been the case for SRM-based SEs and hence they don't declare their servers. The gridftp functionality should still be tested in the SRM tests. There has been some discussion of using gridftp directly, e.g. with Globus online which doesn't know about SRM, but the situation seems rather unclear at the moment.
