Dear GEM,
I am currently reviewing our Safeguarding Policy and have run into a few issues relating to unaccompanied children in our gardens and grounds.
The nature of our site means that we are unable to admit unaccompanied under-16s, but garden staff report that once through the gates parents often leave children to play unsupervised. I was wondering whether anyone with experience of sites with outdoor areas might be able to advise on effective ways to reinforce the message that children must be accompanied at all times. Our feeling is that visitors tend not to read signs, or indeed the information in our welcome leaflet! Any suggestions gratefully received.
Best wishes,
Zoe
